Who We Are
In essence, we are three friends - Jeff Crispin, Joe Crispin, and Larry Lazarus - who share the same vision of God and love for His people, and who in turn, seek to serve others by pointing people to Him.
If you can follow along, Jeff Crispin was a primary influence in Joe Crispin (Jeff’s nephew) coming to faith in Christ. Larry Lazarus was in turn influenced by the both of them to become a follower of Jesus. United in this common faith over the past 10 years, we have not only grown in our faith alongside one another, but, we trust, have been imperfectly instrumental in helping one another become more like Christ. As is the case for everyone, our ministry to others is the imperfect overflow of our common faith and life.
How we minister to others is unique to each of us, but the underlying motivation and vision is the same. The God made known through Jesus Christ is so compelling and all-defining that we cannot help but do all we can to point others to Him and to the kind of thinking and living that the knowledge of Him leads to.
As far as short bios go, here you are:
Jeff Crispin has spent almost two decades as a Pastor and Itinerant Preacher. He served as a Pastor in the Methodist Church for over 10 years before founding Seek Him with Joe Crispin in 2002. He has since become a Pastor at Joy Community Fellowship, an Evangelical Free church, in Pitman, NJ. He is also a licensed and practicing Physical Therapist and he resides in Glassboro, NJ with his wife, Carol, and five children - Aaron, Ryan, Leah, Joanna, and Rebecca.
As you will find out in the ‘What We Emphasize’ page, Jeff lives with an unshakable passion to help others grow in their knowledge of and love for God. Though he should blog, he doesn’t, but he does check his email once a month or so. Thankfully his wife, Carol, reviews if for him just to make sure he doesn’t miss anything important. Here at Seek Him, his title is Preacher/General Director.
Joe Crispin has spent no time as a Pastor or Itinerant Preacher, and, uniquely enough, is a Professional Basketball Player. He works overseas for most of each calendar year and has no real ‘normal’ ministry credentials of which to speak except a heart for God and others, along with a lot of life experience and informal theological education. After a successful basketball career at Penn State University, he has played professionally over the last 10 years in the NBA, ABA, CBA, Greece, Poland, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and back in Italy again. When he is home in the United States, he resides in State College, PA with his wife Erin and their four children - Abigail, Elijah, Naomi, and Isaiah.
In light of his faith in Christ and experience as a professional athlete, Joe loves to talk, speak, and write about sports and competition from a Biblical perspective. He is also a semi-consistent blogger and tweeter, though he does enter seasons where he wants nothing to do with his too-highly-valued Macbook Pro. Here at Seek Him, his title is Speaker/Executive Director.
Larry Lazarus is currently a Pastor at Joy Community Fellowship in Pitman, NJ, where he serves as the primary preacher/teacher. He has ministered there for the past seven years and though he has no formal theological training in the typical sense, he is a voracious reader and faithful expositor of the Bible. A gifted preacher and writer, he graduated from Penn State in 2000 with a degree in Journalism. He makes his home in Glassboro, NJ with his wife, Michelle, and their two girls, Halle and Felicity.
As a preacher, Larry loves a grand vision of God and a central focus on the gospel, and believes those two realities to be present, no matter the text of Scripture. He does find time to blog insightfully, even if he could do so more. And although he does not often want to do so, he does make sure to cut his grass before it gets too long. Here at Seek Him, his title is Preacher/Teacher and General Resource Provider (a title that describes him well even if it won’t fit onto a business card).
