SHDS Track 2 - Introduction
One of our foundational convictions at SHDS is that in order for us to powerfully walk with Jesus and make Him known, we must learn all that is revealed about Him in the Scriptures. Learning about God is the means. Living for God is the end. As Christians, we learn not simply to learn, but to live. We seek to gain a better understanding of the truths of Scripture in order to gain a greater intimacy and depth of fellowship with the God of Scripture. We learn the truth in order to live to the glory of the Truth Himself—Jesus Christ.
Therefore, the goal of SHDS track two is to help you or your group gain an introductory understanding of central Christian truths, in the hope that your learning will lead you to live a more powerful life. The content is nothing new or complicated. However, what you learn here you will never outgrow, for the Bible truths concerning the gospel, the Person of God, the Church, and the pursuit of God must never be set aside. Indeed, they cannot be set aside if you really want to live the kind of life that we are all called to.
Maybe you have never read consistently or in your reading, never really interacted with the information you received, so as to make it your own. Or maybe you are new to the faith and want an introduction to the basics. Or maybe you just need your heart to return to these foundational truths. Either way, this is the track for you. If you commit yourself to reading or listening for 20-30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, you will probably finish in around four to five months. And considering the truths found within these sermons and books, we are very convinced that that will be four to five months well spent. If your heart is humble and hungry, you will not regret your labor! The Lord has used these works to change our lives and we are hopeful that He will do the same for you.
One final note: We strongly suggest that you (or your group) follow the various courses and coursework (if you choose to do it) in order. We have spent a good deal of time putting them together and believe this program will benefit you best if you take the time to linger on one specific topic at a time. We suppose you could say that there is a ‘method to our madness’ here at Seek Him. Our method is simply for you to focus on a specific set of truths at one time, so that the Lord might more forcefully impress them upon your mind and heart.
Because we believe so strongly in this, we have drawn up a Lesson Plan for those who want to do all the suggested assignments. The plans are designed to take around 20-30 minutes to complete. That’s not a long time by any means. But as you can see from looking at the plan, in only 20-30 minutes per day, you can accomplish this entire Level in 100 days! However you choose to do it, we have tried to serve you well. It is our hope and prayer that the Lord uses this labor for the joy of your soul and the glory of His name!
