Our Ministries - What we do.

In essence, what we do now can be summarized by three things:

First, we are a ministry that is centered on the preaching of the Word of God.

Anywhere, at any time, we are willing to preach. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The gospel is also the means through which God revives His people in order to make them a greater blessing unto the world. So it is the gospel that we proclaim. It is the gospel that we take pains to be faithful to. And it is the gospel we build upon to point others to a wholehearted pursuit of God.

Jeff Crispin is our primary preacher. His biography will soon be found by clicking here. Suffice it to say that if you need someone to preach for you, Jeff will come. And we are confident that your heart and the hearts of your fellow church members will be stirred. Larry Lazarus’ sermons are available online (or soon will be!). He is available for a limited number of engagements. Joe Crispin also preaches, but due to his schedule and his season of life, he is available to preach even less than Larry.

Second, we are a ministry that is jealous to train others in the foundational doctrines and disciplines of the faith.

Here are the three ways we do so.

1)  Extended times of preaching and teaching:  Retreats. A week or weekend of multiple services. A period of 3-4 consecutive weeks of Sunday visits. A Saturday morning men’s breakfast or two. Anything really.  We are willing (more or less) to preach on a topic of your choice.  Also, all our recorded sermons will be posted online in a format that is easy to download and listen to.

2)  Writing:  This is a central aspect of our ministry (and our joy!).  Books, booklets, blogs, written sermons, online weekly (or bi-weekly) commentaries all fit under this category.

Currently we are responsible for three blogsSeeking Him is an online conversation between Larry Lazarus and Joe Crispin.  Topics vary quite a bit on this blog, but always center on how we can better live a life that faithfully reflects the worth and beauty of Jesus.  Sinners Raising Saints is a online conversation between Joe and Erin Crispin on the topic of parenting.  Joe’s Notes consists of Joe’s daily notes on the Scriptures.

We have produced a few booklets written by the SH staff, and are hopeful of publishing full-length books in the near future. A book currently in the works is entitled, The Private Pursuit.

Finally, our written sermons and commentaries will be posted online in a format that is easy to access and to receive via email.  Of course, these resources will also be archived on this site as well.

3)  Resourcing.  This is another area of ministry that we are passionate about.  Not only do we want to produce good resources ourselves, but we also want to point you to even better resources produced by others whom we trust and have benefited from ourselves.  The Resource Library, Recommended Reading, and Favorite Links pages are designed to do just that.  We also have books available for purchase at our office and before, during and after our preaching engagements.

Also, we have created two things that we call Seek Him Discipleship School and Seek Him Prep.  SHDS is an organized reading and listening program (with three different levels) for those who wish to grow in their knowledge of God and sound doctrine. Optional assignments are also included for both personal and group work. SHP is a more intense reading program that takes place in a group with accompanying discussion in an online forum. We have limited the number of people involved in this program for obvious management reasons, but if you would like to inquire about joining the group please contact us.

Finally, our Bible Memory Club, Standing on the Promises, encourages and helps you memorize one verse a week.  Sign up to receive a daily email with this week’s verse.  This serves to point you to the greatest resource of all, the Word of the Living God.  Surely we can do no better than that!’

In the end, we want to do all we can to put great resources into your hands.  Whether it be for a Sunday School class or a small group or your private use, please contact us and let us know what you are looking for.  We are confident that we can help.

Third, we are a ministry that aims to partner with like-minded ministries for the good of God’s people and the glory of His name.

In recognition of the abundance of faithful Christian ministries present today, we do not want to fall into the trap of trying to do everything. From our vantage point, much energy is wasted in the kingdom of God because we fail to work with others who share our doctrinal convictions, but different in their particular emphasis and strength as a ministry. Our aim is to recognize both our strengths and weaknesses and to in turn, work with already existing ministries to encourage the Church. What this looks like, we cannot be sure at this point, but we do realize that it will differ from case to case. Whether it be church planting, discipleship, missions, children’s ministry, Christian worldview, social justice or any other important issue, we want to humbly partner and network with like-minded ministries in order to best serve those we are ministering to.

In the end, we want to serve you and your local church in any way we can. No matter what your request may be, please contact us at,
