Introduction to The One Year, One-Book-A-Month-Plan

It is our conviction here at Seek Him that every capable Christian should be reading good books and listening to good sermons. That is, they should be supplementing their spiritual diet with these two things especially. Not only that, but we also believe that it is best for us to read books and listen to sermons that cover a variety of topics. These two plans have been drawn up with precisely those two things in mind.

First, we have tried to simplify matters by limiting you to one book per month. We admit that there are a few books that might take a bit longer, but on the whole, we are convinced that anyone who has made (or is willing to make) a habit of reading is capable of reading each of these books within one month’s time.

Second, we have tried to vary up your reading, so that by the end of one year, you will (if you read the books of course!) find yourself with a much better grasp of sound Christian doctrine. We can’t cover everything with only 12 books per year, however, we are confident that the 12 books we have suggested are a phenomenal place to start. If you read and understand the basic thrust of each of these works, you will be changed. In turn, you will be very thankful that you disciplined yourself to follow this plan.

In the future, we plan to post some accompanying sermons or lectures to listen to if you so desire. We also plan to post some short assignments that may help you better reflect upon the material you read and listen to. Until then, however, dig into these works. For a year spent reading and wresting with all that is listed in either one of these plans is a year well spent!
