Christian and Culture

May 30, 2008

Lar,

I’m really not trying to make this ‘link week’, but you will love this short post by Tullian Tchividjian, called ‘No Utopia Now.’  He is right on point in my opinion.  Check it out.

One Response to “Christian and Culture”

    Joe,

Thanks for the link (I hadn’t gotten to Tullian’s blog yet today). I really liked the idea of persuasion versus coercion but I need to think it through some more.

I am fully on board with the idea of influencing culture (as opposed to removing ourselves from it). My questions arise from the methods we Christians use and the lengths we go in the name of transforming culture. Also, I noticed that Tullian spoke of “transforming” culture and not “redeeming” culture. Do you think that transformation can come through persuasion but only redemption can come through coercion (because it comes from Christ)?

    Just my thoughts,
    Gino
